first post

People always ask me why did I choose library as a career, and I always say because I love reading. But to tell the truth we do not read books at work but we see hundreds of them and make list of titles that we will read soon, and then make another list and another.
Maybe when we retire we have enough time to read all the classics we promised ourselves to read and all the books on those lists.
I am addicted to books, everytime I am in the bookshop with my husband he says, but you work with books why do we have to spend hours looking at more books and then he walks off to the DVD section.
I think that if you read you are leading more than one live, you visit places, meet people, discover ideas and of course solve the murder before the book ends.
happy reading!!

My husband says exactly the same thing, except that he's a librarian too! He says there are too many books in the house, and is trying to ban me from adding any more!

What I like most about reading is that you can escape 'this life' for a time, and become immersed in the environment of the book and it's characters. It's a great antidote to the pressures of 'this life', and of course reading gives you lots of new ideas to think about and often perspectives on issues in 'this life'.

"My Husband and I" both read so we can browse in bookshops together...
I read for the nourishment books give my very vivid imagination and yes I usually do guess who "dunnit" before the end of the story.
It is also a delight to be able to browse through a beautifully illustrated book such as art, cookbooks, interior decorating, not to forget fashion and one of the best for visual enjoyment is countries of the world.
So you see reading books covers a lot of areas and can please so many.
